ABOUT THIS PROJECT

These clients love color and pattern so when we started working with them we knew we wanted to design their space around interesting textiles, upholstery and wall treatments. We selected a gorgeous jewel-tone velvet sofa as the key piece of furniture in the living room. It adds depth, texture and color all at the same time. The use of velvet helps the space feel more formal and differentiates it from a more casual family room on the other side of the home. Handsome leather chairs opposite the sofa, bring a masculine element to the space and offer a beautiful balance to the sultry femininity of the sofa.

We chose to incorporate pattern through custom pillows and with a geometric rug. The cool tones in the rug break up the warm wood floors nicely and add a modern edge to the whole room. Its clean lines are an intentional juxtaposition to the archway in the entry.

Adding custom draperies to the large windows in the living space added a major element to the room. Selecting a neutral cream linen to match the window trim was the perfect choice. We wanted the window treatments to flow with the rest of the millwork in the space and not fight for attention.

In this gorgeous craftsman home, the entryway and the living room almost feel like one room. A wide archway from the entry leads directly into the living space. We knew we wanted to make a statement in the entry with wallcovering, but the challenge was finding something that coordinated well with the living room furnishings since the two are interconnected. We selected a bold but neutral palm motif. A fresh mix of cream and gray, this wallpaper coordinates with the trim throughout the home and makes a statement the second you enter the home - exactly what our client was hoping for. Because we kept the tones very neutral, this sophisticated, yet playful wallpaper integrates seamlessly with the rest of the living room furnishings.
