ABOUT THIS PROJECT

From the moment we started working with this client, it was important that the finished space was light and airy, with clean lines and plenty of layered neutrals. The homeowner loved the modern farmhouse trend, but wanted it to accentuate the pacific northwest feel and scenery. This inspiration guided all of our selections, from the textiles, to the furnishings, to the paint color.

We started the design by selecting a new paint color. We selected Ballet White by Benjamin Moore to give the room a clean, neutral backdrop. The new paint color made a dramatic impact, and helped to diffuse the sunlight coming in from the large windows.

Laying out the furniture was the next step. It was important that we selected furniture that was beautiful but also very functional and durable for a family with young children. With a mix of performance fabrics and carefully selected materials, we were able to achieve an elevated, yet casual look that would stand up to wear and tear over time. The end result is a gorgeous living room that supports a busy family who love to live, play and entertain in their home.

WORDS FROM OUR CLIENT

Bret Ashlee was fantastic to work with. She quickly latched onto what ideas were floating on my head and brought them to life in a way that exceeded my expectations. What I loved was she was thoughtful about leveraging some of the items I already had in my rooms that worked in with the look we were trying to create, which as a result, really saved us money and brought a new life to some of our existing furniture. Bret listened well and was able to be very balanced between her technical knowledge of space with her design vision.
